Professor of Byzantine Philosophy

George Arabatzis was born in Athens and studied philosophy in Paris, France. Α Scholarship holder of the French Government, he obtained his Ph.D. with honors from the École de Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales and he made a post-doctoral research in the University of Torino, Italy, with a grant from the Italian Government. From 1998 to 2012, he was a researcher at the Research Centre on Greek Philosophy of the Academy of Athens. He has been a Visiting Scholar-Research Fellow at the Princeton University, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Helsinki, the University Charles in Prague, the University of Jassy, Romania, etc. He gave lectures in the above universities and other ones and taught philosophy at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, at the Postgraduate programme in Philosophy of the University of Athens, at the Greek Open University and at the École de Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales. He has participated in Greek and International Conferences and he is a member of Greek and International Philosophical Societies. His research is focused on Byzantine philosophy, its Ancient Sources and its modern perception. His latest book is: Anti-humanisme et discours institutionnel.
