Giorgos Mitropoulos is Post-doc researcher in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and is the Primary Investigator of the Research Project Greek Matronae: Female Civic Presence and Self-Representation in Imperial Greece (1st - 3rd c. CE) in the National Hellenic Research Foundation. He has taught Ancient Greek and Roman History in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the University of Crete and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His main research interests include the society, politics and cultic practices in the Hellenistic and Roman world and the formation and diffusion of the ruler ideology in the Greek East, topics on which he has published various papers in international scientific journals and collective volumes. His monograph, entitled The model of the Roman emperor and the imitatio imperatoris: Dialectics of influence between the princeps and the provincials in the Graeco-Roman East (31 B.C. – A.D. 235) was published on 2023 in Greek,and treats the theme of the exemplum of the Roman Emperor and his imitation in the Hellenophone provinces.
