ACCESSIBILITY UNIT OF NKUA

Ensuring Equal Access for All

The Accessibility Unit of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) is committed to fostering equal access to academic studies for students with disabilities and special educational needs.

Mission and Services

The mission of the Accessibility Unit is to provide practical solutions that enable full participation in academic life. This is achieved through:

  • Environmental Modifications
  • Computer-Based Assistive Technologies
  • Specialized Access Services

Support Process

NKUA has implemented a comprehensive support system to ensure students with disabilities have the resources they need to succeed academically.
Students are encouraged to contact the Accessibility Unit, which tailors solutions to accommodate a wide range of abilities and needs.

Services are available to NKUA students with documented certifications from a public hospital or recognized institution for any of the following conditions:

  • Sensory disabilities
  • Physical disabilities
  • Learning difficulties (e.g., dyslexia, ADHD)
  • Pervasive developmental disorders (e.g., autism spectrum disorders, Asperger syndrome)
  • Severe medical conditions
  • Serious psychosocial challenges

Personalized Recommendations

Specialized personnel from the Accessibility Unit work directly with students to assess their specific needs and develop personalized recommendations.
These recommendations are communicated to the Program's Advisor for Students with Disabilities, who collaborates with teaching staff to ensure appropriate adjustments in teaching methods and examination processes.

This inclusive approach ensures that every student receives the support they need to thrive academically.
